Ramaphosa calls family meeting tonight

President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation tonight on developments in relation to the country’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Presidency has confirmed that Ramaphosa will speak at 8pm.
The address follows meetings in recent days with the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC), the President’s Coordinating Council (PCC) and Cabinet.

It will also come a few hours after Ramaphosa receives South Africa’s first batch of COVID-19 vaccines.
He will personally foresee the arrival of 1 million vaccinations, along with Health Minister, Dr. Zweli Mkhize.

In his last address, the adjusted level 3 lockdown was extended, where restrictions on alcohol sales, swimming at beaches, rivers and dams as well as visiting public spaces such as parks were upheld.
With the infection rate dropping across the country in recent weeks, speculation is mounting that Ramaphosa will lift the liquor sale ban and adjust the lockdown curfew.
