Ramaphosa announces pathway for reporting GBV amid lockdown
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The number of increased gender-based violence cases remains a concern for the President, who has now announced measures which will allow female victims to report such abuse during lockdown.
President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation last night where he gave the latest update on the lockown.
He says victims of domestic violence will now be able to seek help without facing lockdown penalties.
"The scourge of gender-based violence continues to stalk our country as the men of our country declared war on the women.
"We have developed an emergency pathway for survivors to ensure that the victims of gender-based violence are assisted.
"One of the interventions we have made is to ensure lockdown regulations be structured in a manner that a woman can leave her home to report abuse without the fear of a fine, intimidation or further violence," he said.
