He was speaking in Chiawelo, Soweto, where he cast his vote at the Hitakeni Primary School.

"I am delighted that finally, we are here, this is the culmination of our election campaign, it has been a few weeks of real hard work, but I am glad to see that many South Africans are seemingly very excited to exercise their democratic right.

"As the ANC we are looking forward to an overwhelming victory in Johannesburg and various metros in Gauteng," said Ramaphosa.

"This is the one election where we are clearly saying to our people that we are going to do the best. I wish all parties, without exception, all the luck as our people respond to what we have been saying to them.”

Responding to the electricity and water woes facing Soweto residents, Ramaphosa said municipal and service delivery issues are complex.

"The provision of services in municipalities is very difficult and complex. Our people have reason to complain and raise the issues with their vote, they are expressing themselves.

"We know what the problems are, they are clear and we have said this time around we want to correct what has not gone well," said Ramaphosa.
