Ramaphosa accepts TAC's memorandum of demands

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has accepted a memorandum of demands from the TreatmentAction Campaign, saying they need to work together to ensure more people  have access to proper HIV and AIDS treatment.

"We must stop throwing stones, we must start throwing ideas. We must start showing how we can co-operate to move our whole country to making sure that people who are living with HIV are taken care of," he said.

The marchers had expected UN chief Ban Ki-Moon to receive their grievances outside the Durban City Hall at around lunchtime.


When this did not happen, the group marched to the Durban ICC, the venue of the International Aids Conference, and threatened to disrupt the conference by blocking the doors.


They were met by a large contingent of police -nd later Ramaphosa, Health Minister, Aaron Motsaledi and KZN Health MEC, Dr Sibongeni Dhlomo accepted and signed the memorandum.


It's understood Ban has already left the country for New York.
