The heavy rainfall in KwaZulu-Natal is wreaking havoc on the province’s roads.

Paramedics say there were a spate of crashes in and around Durban on Monday morning. 


Motorists were forced to navigate waterlogged routes, and other obstacles as emergency responders warned of dangerous driving conditions. 


"We attended to, multiple collisions on the M19 this morning in the vicinity of Reservoir Hills," said spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Garrith Jamieson.

"On the N3 near Hammersdale, going towards Pietermaritzburg, a truck has overturned and that is causing a lot of delays currently. There is multiple collisions on Queen Nandi Drive near Newlands East Drive as well." 


Jamieson said the M7 by the Bellville off-ramp was affected as well. 


Puddles formed on the bend on the M13 Durban-bound near Cowies Hill. 


"We got water logging near the old airport on the N2, as well as in Isipingo and surrounds of Isipingo there are multiple areas where water has accumulated. 


"The M19, in both directions, is also severe water-logged and quite dangerous. Multiple water puddles are currently on North Coast Road."
