With the festive season already in full swing for some, the Road Accident Fund is urging motorists to be more careful on our roads.

The fund's CEO Eugene Watson says they pay out over 30 000 claims a month and only have R3-billion a month at their disposal.
He says the figure is not enough. Watson says the fund has processed claims that have not been paid out, simply because there is not enough money.
"What is offered by the RAF isn't affordable. It's gotten to a point where the most definitive thing we need to do now is actually bringing the RAF, as we know it, to a close and introduce a new scheme called the Road Accident Benefit scheme, which offers some benefits to more accident victims but within the available amounts of money," he said.
In the last seven months, the fund has paid out 29 000 claims.
Watson says it i sad that these figures reflect the number of people hurt or killed on our roads.
