Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
The Road Accident Fund says it will help the families of those killed in a horrific crash in Nquthu at the weekend.
Eight people were killed and 72 others hurt after the truck they were travelling in overturned.
RAF KZN spokesperson, Nomkhosi Gumede says they have already been in contact with the victims' families.
"As the Road Accident Fund, we will cover some of the funeral expenses," she says.
The driver of the truck appeared in court yesterday and is facing eight charges of culpable homicide and one for drunken driving.
The provincial Transport Department's Mluleki Mtungwa is again urging road users to behave responsibly.
"As the Department of Transport, we want to caution all motorists in the province and pedestrians alike to abide by the rules of the road as we are heading for the festive season," he says.
