Rabies outbreak in Umlazi prompts vaccination drive

There's been a rabies outbreak at Umlazi, prompting officials in eThekwini to urgently roll out a vaccination drive there.

A number of cases have recently been reported in the area, south of Durban, sparking concerns.
The City's Agriculture Department has started a vaccination drive today - and will cover P, Q, U, Y and Z sections.

eThekwini spokesperson, Mswakhe Mayisela says pet owners must remember to bring the certificates issued during their previous vaccination.
"But in the event that they do not have one, we will be having one issued for them. Today, which is the 19 August, we are in KwaMuzi tavern which is Z-section. Tomorrow we will be at Mlambo tuckshop at Malusi Cele road at Z-section.
He says Umlazi dog owners wanting to get more information can contact the City.
