R68 million to combat SASSA fraud
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
The Department of Social Development says fraud is their biggest challenge and has put R68 million to eradicate it.

Minister Lindiwe Zulu says the department has suspended almost 2 800 fraudulent SASSA accounts earlier this month. The minister was speaking in parliament during her department's budget debate this week.
In KZN over 10 suspects have been arrested for being in possession of fraudulent SASSA cards since the beginning of the year. Zulu says the Post Office and SASSA are investigating the reported cases.
Zulu says has called for an investigation.
"I have directed both CEOs of SASSA and the SA Post Office to investigate and furnish myself and the Minister of Communication and Digitial Technologies with a comprehensive report", she said.
"To address these fraudulent activities we have allocated R68 million to social grant investigations in the current financial year", Zulu said.
