R66 near Melmoth closed to traffic
Motorists are being advised to avoid the R66 between Melmoth and Vryheid.
Traffic authorities say a protest has forced the entire closure of the road just outside Melmoth north.
Angry community members reportedly began burning tyres at around 3am this morning.
Officials are urging people to avoid the area, as there are no alternate routes at the moment.
Motorists heading to Gauteng are being advised to take the N2 via Pongola.
