Nine other children have also been left seriously injured.

Netcare 911's Chris Botha says the youngest of the passengers is four-years-old.

"Paramedics arrived there and found absolute carnage. At the moment, the estimate is that three little children, aged between four and 12 years, are in a critical condition. A total of nine children suffered serious injuries. They have been taken to the Port Shepstone Provincial Hospital for further care," he said.
