R350 'reconsideration of appeal' grants to be paid by end of week - SASSA

The South African Social Security Agency says it expects to have paid the R350 grant to more than a million beneficiaries by the end of the week.

It says the payments made during the week are the reconsideration of appeals for the period of August to November 2021.
The agency has already paid about 750 000 grant recipients.
SASSA’s Sandy Godlwana has urged recipients to provide their banking details for the funds to be deposited.
"All clients who use SAPO to receive their money are reminded that they can use any approved retail outlet. Those who want to change their payment method can visit the SASSA website."

"Clients are advised not to go to the Post Office to access their funds. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay might have caused and we would like to assure the public that we are working tirelessly to ensure that the backlog is dealt with and everyone approved is paid."
SASSA also says the April and May backlog, which was meant to be paid out this week, has been delayed.
This after the Department of Social Development implemented a means test to avoid paying grants to those who already have an income.
In a statement, SASSA says it had to sign an agreement with banks to allow for the screening of the recipients' bank accounts.
