R300 billion cost to rejuvenate ageing coal fleet says Eskom boss

Eskom's CEO says the power utility has improved its performance significantly - since last year.
André de Ruyter was addressing the media yesterday on Eskom's State of the System update.
De Ruyter says planned maintenance has been increasing due to deferred maintenance which is causing load shedding.
He says one of the key challenges Eskom is facing is emissions.

"Some of our emission control equipment at our power station is not capable of addressing the current emissions that go up into the atmosphere and therefore we are having to develop plans to mitigate that overtime.
"Now there will be a significant cost to this. if we want to bring our entire ageing coal fleet up to full compliance with emission specification. The cost will exceed 300 billion rand."
