eThekwini Municipality
has set aside R27 million for equipment for lifeguards at all the city's
beaches.

Lifeguards at uMdloti have expressed concern about a lack of rescue resources, saying it compromises the safety of beachgoers.
These include torpedo and ring buoys. They say they last received rescue equipment in 2018.
