R1 billion boost for KZN over Easter weekend
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Tourism KZN is confident a whopping R1 billion will be pumped into the provincial economy this Easter.

The tourism body expects 250 000 domestic and 60 000 international visitors to beeline to the east coast. Recent research conducted by South African Tourism suggests travellers have chosen to make KZN their destination of choice.
Officials say the recent school holidays, Easter weekend and upcoming Freedom Day and May Day public holidays show that travellers are vacationing here on the east coast. Tourism KZN expects some 100 000 visitors to spend their money on entertainment, holiday accommodation, car rental and restaurants in Durban this weekend.
Accommodation bodies are expecting a late surge in bookings, while positive numbers are also on the cards for eateries and theatres.
Tourism KZN says it is encouraging to see local businesses trying to capitalise on the break.
The majority of domestic tourists enjoying what the province has to offer are from KZN and Gauteng... while the international market consists of mainly UK, German and American travellers.
