Pupil in KZN school assault could face additional charges

State prosecutors could add a second charge of assault against a 19-year-old suspect in the school video assault case.

Lindokuhle Dube made his first appearance in the Ntuzuma Magistrates Court yesterday. 

Dube, who was charged with assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, was granted bail of R1500. 

State Prosecutor, Gugu Ntombela said the accused is alleged to have assaulted the victims twin sister - prior to the incident. 

KZN Education's Muzi Mahlambi says they be pursuing their own investigation.

"We are starting our own internal investigation as to what happened and when. Some revelations came out at court - so we are going to be taking that line in terms of moving forward," he says. 

In video footage released on social media recently, a schoolgirl is seen bleeding after being punched and kicked by a fellow pupil.
