Public violence case against DUT student postponed to January

The case against DUT student, Bonginkosi Khanyile, has been postponed to January for a pretrial conference in the Durban Magistrate's Court.

Khanyile faces charges of inciting violence and assaulting a police officer, amongst others.
He was arrested in September during the Fees Must Fall Protests.

During today proceedings - the court first dealt with his trespassing case which was also adjourned to January - before postponing his incitement matter.
EFF student activist Gazuzu Nduli - who is Khanyile's co-accused in the trespassing matter - addressed students outside of court, slamming presiding Magistrate Jackie Jonck.
"Fellow comrades, we are here today to support a very brave and a very courageous, fearless fighter, Bonginkosi Khanyile. I'm sure he's very proud that when he looks behind him, he sees many people in support of him. We must continue making sure supporting him so the Magistrate must know he's dealing with the EFF, he's dealing with the students of the Fees Must Fall movement,"he said.
