Public servants' strike will not impact crime fighting - SAPS
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The South African Police Service has moved to assure South Africans the public sector strike will have no impact on the fight against crime.

The South African Policing Union (SAPU) joined the ongoing public sector strike on Monday morning.
Public servants are demanding an increase of 10% while government has so far offered a wage hike of 4.7%.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says most officers - including operational members - are not allowed to strike due to the fact that they are an essential service.
Mathe says it will be business as usual across all police stations.
"Only public members are allowed to strike and those are members who provide service to the SAPS. Operational members will be at work to ensure that South Africans are safe."
