Public Protector to continue probe into Sassa
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane will continue investigating the South Africa Social Security Agency (Sassa), despite yesterday's Constitutional Court ruling.
The higest court in the land ordered Sassa and Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) to continue working together to pay social grants, until another entity capable of doing so is found.
Mkhwebane said her office has requested that Minister of Social Development, Bathabile Dlamini indicate what might have delayed the implementation of the Constitutional Court decision to find a new contractor, after the contract with CPS was found to be invalid in 2014.

"The Public Protector will be looking into the issue of maladministration, especially the undue delay to act on the court decision. We have also engage the Minister of Finance on options that can be taken to resolve this matter speedily, but I see the Constitutional Court has already issued a judgement to say the CPS contract will continue for the next 12 months. That does not stop our investigations, because maladministration has happened, and we will have to go deep into this matter to determine who was responsible for that maladministration," said Mkwebane.
