Public Protector confirms investigation into Gupta family
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal

A spokesperson for Thuli Madonsela’s office says officials are looking into state affairs and the awarding of contracts to companies linked to the family. The investigation comes after Madonsela was approached by The Dominican Order – an order of Catholic priests and brothers in Southern Africa – as well as the DA.
Spokesperson Oupa Segalwe says Madonsela must report to the president after 30 days.
"She would have to investigate, particularly the issue of alleged influence in cabinet appointments, because that is what comes out clearly in Democratic Alliance's request," he said.
"The other issues that are part of complaints launched by The Dominican Order can also be investigated under the Public Protector Act," Segalwe said.
