PSA: KZN govt should use SAMA money to fill vacant posts

The country's largest public service union has urged the KZN government to keep service delivery top of mind.

The Public Servants Association says it's disturbed by reports that some R28 million is being forked out to host the SA Music Awards.

Local government clarified the figure, saying the show is set to cost the province R20 million over a three-year period.
But the trade union's provincial manager Mlungisi Ndlovu, says the news comes as some municipalities, including eThekwini, continue to be plagued by water and power issues.
"As PSA, we cannot tolerate a situation where taxpayers’ money is being abused.
"We believe that this money should be diverted in filling in vacancies for doctors, for nurses, for educators and all other admin staff."
