Protests: KZN Education raises concern for pupils who've missed schooling
The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department says with mid-year exams around the corner, it's concerned about pupils who've missed days and in some cases months of schooling due to community protests.
Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says they're confident in their preparations especially after last week's review of the first three months of the academic year.
Learning and teaching at Folweni, south of Durban, was disrupted for two months.
Eight schools in Mtshezi remained closed for nearly a month.
Mahlambi says the majority of schools will be ready to sit down for mid-year exams in just a few weeks.
"We are appealing to communities to realize that the time that we are losing is the time that we will regret very much towards the end of the year, but it's not all the communities that are doing that,'' he said.
