Protests flare up again at DUT hindering lectures
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) is hoping to get lectures off the ground soon.
This after protest action flared up again, at the Ritson and Steve Biko campuses, forcing management to suspend classes on what would have been the first day of the academic year.
A group of students demonstrated outside the campuses over registration issues on Wednesday.
DUT says the protest was not sanctioned by the SRC, it was being steered by a political student organisation.

Spokesperson Alan Khan says some students and parents were intimidated and prevented from entering the varsity.
"That kind of intimidation has to end and the reality is that the university has already extended its registration period by two weeks. We are concerned if there are any further delays to the commencement of the academic programme it will compromise students.
"Let's not forget that 98 percent of all first-year students are already registered and ready to go. More than 92 percent of returning students are registered and ready to go, so we are hoping that we can resolve whatever issues remain and work together with our SRC so that the academic programme can continue."
