Students have been protesting at UKZN's Edgewood Campus in Pinetown.
Motorist, Selvin Ramachendir drove past the demonstrations along Marianhill Road this morning.
"We're driving on the road and there are protesters in Edgewood placing furniture and wooden pallets on the road. The gates are blocked and nobody can get in or out of Edgewood at the moment," he said.
He says they have contacted the police.

SRC president, Xolani Dube says they have made attempts to engage with university management over accommodation issues.
"There are students that have no place to stay. The management promised to find spaces. We even went out to find buildings for ourselves along with management. They made promises that it's going to be ready in two weeks," he says.

The main entrance to the university has been blocked and students cannot enter the campus. The SRC's denied reports that demonstrations have turned violent.
