Protestors want Ladysmith mayor axed
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Ladysmith protestors say they won't back down until the mayor of Alfred Duma Local Municipality is removed from office.

Hundreds of people belonging to the UbumBano Nokuthula organization and taxi drivers brought the CBD to a standstill when they marched to the town hall yesterday.
They've accused the Ladysmith mayor of corrupt activities and misusing taxpayers' money.

The group's Andile Hlatshwayo says they've submitted a list of demands to the speaker.
"We find him not credible anymore to be the leader of the society, and that is why we have called for his immediate removal. He is part and parcel of how the people of the taxi industry are being killed in Ladysmith," he says.
Municipality spokesperson, Sya Maphalala confirmed that the memorandum was received.
He says they'll study the memorandum and meet with KZN's Co-operative Governance officials - before commenting on the allegations.
