Protestors clash with police in Phoenix
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Protestors in Phoenix have clashed with police, who are reported to have fired rubber bullets at the crowd.
Service delivery demonstrations on Wednesday morning affected a number of roads in Ward 52.
Residents barricaded routes with burning debris and tyres.
Police have since ramped up their presence in the Westham and Redfern areas in an attempt to restore order.
One resident said officers wanted the protestors to disperse, but when they refused, she claimed that shots were fired.

"We didn't want to move from the road. We told them we are not doing anything wrong, we are demonstrating our rights. What they are telling us, is we must go, and the electricity will come back, but we have been waiting for eight days without electricity and notices.
"We have been quiet for too long and when we take to the road, they have workers to shoot at us, and we don't have weapons."
In a video sent to Newswatch, a man is seen being handcuffed after he was pulled over by police.
Residents are heard shouting in the background.
