Protestors block entry to KZN hospital
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Police say officers are still deployed to the Ubombo area in northern KwaZulu-Natal with service delivery protests continuing there over the weekend.
Community members who are allegedly up in arms over issues of water and housing barricaded main roads for several days.
The protests have reportedly affected services at the Bethesda District Hospital.
Concerned resident Jill Stuart says the protestors are effectively preventing the delivery of supplies from reaching the hospital.
''The hospital is right at the top of the Ubombo mountain, so you've got a winding road on the one way and another one down the other way and they have blocked both sides.
''They are not allowing any suppliers or patients in or out of the hospital,'' she said.
The Umkhanyakude District Municipality says a meeting with KZN government officials is expected to take place this week.
