Protesters block Umlazi main road in overnight protest
Updated | By Natarah Nadesan
Protesters trashed a main route in Umlazi before fleeing from authorities.

Durban Metro Police say it is not clear how many people took part in the demonstration that started late last night.
Sibusiso Mdakane Drive in V-Section has since been reopened to traffic.
But the Metro Police's Parboo Sewpersad says it was left in a mess.
"From last night, we have been receiving calls and we deployed the Metro Police, public order police and the operations staff to Mangosuthu Highway. That's the area near Mnyandu Mall. Debris and burning tyres were [strewn across the roadway] on the roadway," Sewpersad said.

Cleaners worked for hours to clear the road.
Sewpersad says for now, they don't know who the protesters were and what they had been demanding.
