The institution makes use of various service providers and their employees now say they want stable employment.

Protestors want MUT to employ them.

MUT's Vice-Chancellor Professor Mashupye Kgaphola says they've asked service providers to intervene.

They do not want protestors interfering with the day-to-day operations of the university.

Cleaning staff have reportedly been intimidated.

The university wants staff to return to work, but it believes service providers must solve the dispute.

Meanwhile, workers at the nearby Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital are making similar demands.

Uncollected refuse is piling up at the entrance to the health facility.
