The University of KwaZulu-Natal says it's shutting Howard College Campus in Durban as a safety measure.
Management says the decision was taken after a large group of people gathered outside Gate 1.
It says no one will be allowed to enter the campus, including students with access permits, until further notice.
"The University will formally advise staff and students by way of further notice, when they shall be permitted to access and return to this Campus," says UKZN spokesperson Normah Zondo.

"Only Risk Management Services and other law enforcement agencies will continue to have right of access and to be on this Campus for security purposes and to monitor the situation."
Meanwhile, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) says it will process late online registrations for first-year students from Saturday, 19 February, to Friday, 11 March.
