Protest action blocks N3 at Howick

The N3 near Howick in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands has been affected by
violent protests in the area.
11/01/19 7AM UPDATE here: N3 reopened near Howick after protests
The N3 Toll Concession, the body that manages the route between Cedara and Heidelberg in Gauteng, says the northbound carriageway – that is heading from Pietermaritzburg towards Johannesburg – has been blocked.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
It is unclear at this stage what caused the unrest.
