'Processes not followed in Gupta’s Waterkloof landing'
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The former Director General in the Department of International Relations - and now the head of state protocol - Ambassador Jerry Matjila says he only found out about the 'Gupta landing' at the Waterkloof Air Force Base through the media.

Matjila made the comment at the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture earlier.
He said the private jet - with about 200 guests headed to Sun City for a wedding - should never have landed at Waterkloof because proper documentation and processes were not followed.
"If this was a real wedding party, it would have landed in a civilian airport. In that case, it is just a wedding party. There's no need for note verbale as they are coming here to have a nice time and they are guests."
But, he said the scenario was different because the plane touched down at an air force base.
"Once you go to a military base - the civilian park goes away. You are coming to a very exclusive area - a sensitive security area - so you need to provide documentation why you come to a highly secured area," Matjila said.
