Probe underway into George building tragedy

The provincial government in the Western Cape says it's begun a fact-finding mission to get answers on the George building tragedy.

Infrastructure officials say they want to make sure that they fully investigate and understand what happened, so that a disaster like this doesn't happen again.
An independent investigator has been appointed.

Rescuers continue to scour the disaster site, where at least 32 people lost their lives, while 20 are still missing.
Deputy Minister of International Relations Alvin Botes is calling on the private sector to support repatriation efforts.
He says some of the workers were from Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique.

"We want to call on the constructing company to come and show a sense of morality, because it is our view as government that these workers were on the payroll of this company - those private companies have a unique responsibility in regards to footing the repatriation."
