Probe into matric exam cheating claims in Mpumalanga province
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A probe's been launched into allegations of cheating during this year's matric exams in Mpumalanga province.

The province's education department says cases have been reported at some centres within Manyeleti Circuit in Bohlabela District.
"To this end, the department welcomes the probe that will be undertaken in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education," says Mpumalanga Education spokesperson Gerald Sambo.
"The department requests that time be given for the investigation to take place and requests that all those who have information about this cheating and misconduct need to cooperate accordingly.
"The department will henceforth await the outcome of the investigation before determining the cause of action to be undertaken going forward."
It's been reported that over 1000 pupils from the province are being investigated.
A Sunday Times report says pupils allegedly paid teachers up to R1 500 to join chat groups where answers were posted during the exams.
It's alleged some invigilators are also involved in the scandal.
The National Basic Education Department has confirmed the investigation in Mpumalanga.
It refuted a claim by News24 that six provinces are involved.
