Probe makes damning findings against NSFAS CEO

Student financial aid
scheme NSFAS says legal action will be taken against those involved in the
irregular appointment of service providers.

On Wednesday, Chairperson Ernest Khosa gave feedback on the board's probe into CEO Andile Nongogo and the scheme's procurement systems.
He said investigators found a conflict of interest between Nongogo and four service providers.
Students from various universities - including those in KZN - protested against the new Direct Payment Method - implemented by NSFAS this year.
Some beneficiaries were evicted from their residences when NSFAS failed to pay for their accommodation

Khosa said this is one of the issues they're zeroing in on.
"One of the cardinal considerations that this board has made, is how best to invest this money so that there is better returns for it.
"One of the ways to ensure that we invest our funds from accommodation in a manner that creates appropriate accommodations for students in higher education."
