Probe launched into KZN school fire

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of a school fire in Bergville, northern KZN.

Okhalamba Fire Chief, Freddie Halgreen says a blaze broke out at Bambazi High School, destroying a classroom last night.
"When we arrived on scene we found a portion of the school fully engulfed. Myself, two permanent staff and three volunteers responded to the scene, we staring extinguishing the fire. The cause of the fire at this stage is not yet determined."

The Education Department's Muzi Mahlambi says this is the fifth school fire in the country since the lockdown began.
Four schools were gutted by fire while another 22 were vandalized in Gauteng.
"It is something that baffles us at to why all of a sudden when we are in a lockdown that our schools are on fire, it is something that as a sector together working with the police are investigating."
