Probe into deadly Mother’s Day N2 crash

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of a horrific crash in northern KwaZulu-Natal that claimed the lives of eight people.

A truck collided with a van transporting churchgoers on the N2 near Empangeni on Mother's Day on Sunday.
Provincial officials say 24 members of the Zion Christian Church were making their way to Dukuduku in Umtubatuba.
" Time remains critically indisposed in the hospital, and it is our prayer that they'll recover. The RTMC, an entity of the Department of Transport, will be at Richards Bay working with RTI to investigate the set of circumstances that would have led to that accident. Then we would be able to provide a report and give direction and closure for families,” Deputy Transport Minister, Mkhuleko Hlengwa said on Sunday.
Hlangwa spoke at the United Nations Global Road Safety Week campaign launch in Durban.
