Probe after Durban pupils display 'ancestral calling behaviour' at school
Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
KwaZulu-Natal's education officials are investigating an incident at a Durban school, allegedly involving traditional spiritual conduct.
Some pupils of AD Lazarus Secondary School in Reservoir Hills were sent home early on Thursday.
The school says they were displaying “ancestral calling behaviour”.
In another separate incident, a school principal on the South Coast allegedly sent home a pupil for wearing sangoma attire instead of a school uniform.

KZN Education Muzi Mahlambi says they will consult traditional leaders on how to deal with these matters.
"As a department, we are also contemplating that we will have a meeting with the association of the traditional healers so that we have a discussion around the issues.
"But until such time, we are appealing to parents and our learners to continue to observe the code of conduct when it comes to wearing of uniform properly."
