Updated | By News24
The body of a man who was stoned to death at Inanda Dam in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday night was pulled from the water yesterday morning.
Residents from the Maphephetheni area heard screams in the middle of the night and yesterday morning discovered a bloodied rope near the water’s edge.
Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said that the matter was reported to the police and that members of the Search and Rescue Unit were dispatched to the scene.
Using a police dog trained to locate bodies, the officers managed to find the man within a matter of minutes.
"The body of an unknown male who is about 25 years of age was recovered from the dam.
''He was allegedly stoned to death and dumped into the dam [on Sunday night]," Naicker said.
"The motive of the killing is unknown at this stage. Inanda police are investigating a case of murder and no arrest has been made at this stage," he added.
