A prisoners human rights organisation says it hopes more inmates will be released on parole before end of the year.

This after Fees Must Fall Activist Khanya Cekeshe and Abathembu King Zwelibanzi Dalindyebo were released from jail earlier this week.
Their release came after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that 14 000 prisoners will be released on the special remission on Reconciliation Day Celebrations in the Midlands.

SAPOHR spokesperson Miles Bhudu says while they welcome the release, its important they continue rehabilitation outside.
"We are mindful of the fact that the President is moving in the right direction. It's long overdue, and we in fact, one to insist that the Department of Corrections services and justice must make the justice and crime prevention security cluster," says Bhudu.
He adds, "They must make it a permanent body so that you don't have this thing as I once have been due to the fact that our prisons are chronically overcrowded and eat infringes on the rights of sentence and on sentence offenders.
