Prince Sifiso Zulu's death 'a sad loss'
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Former eThekwini Municipal Manager Mike Sutcliffe has confirmed that Prince Sifiso Zulu has died.
The Durban businessman and self-proclaimed prince made headlines after he was convicted on two counts of culpable homicide five year ago.
Two students were killed and 10 others injured when his car rammed into their bakkie after he had run a red light.
Zulu was released from a Pietermaritzburg prison on parole in February 2013 after serving nine months of his three-year prison sentence.
Sutcliffe says Zulu died in hospital this morning after a sudden illness.
"Sifiso was one of those youngsters who I've known from the 1980s, when together with his fellow comrades in Chesterville worked to fight against the apartheid State.
"He was in the forefront of that as a youngster then. I've seen him grow from being that young teenager into a young man. So, for me it's really a sad loss to his family in particular," he said.
