Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan have been in the country for three days, as part of their 10-day tour of Southern Africa.

But CONTRALESA's Eastern Cape Chairperson, Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana, says they were hoping the couple would pay a courtesy call at least one of the country's royal households on their stop here.

He says Harry and Meghan's failure to reach out to them shows they have no regard for the people of the country.

"I think it’s a shame that this has happened and even to see our people really going after them, this clearly indicates that we still under oppression. We still have to do more to really disabuse the minds of Africans”.

“It is ironic that this happened during the month that we must actual celebrate our own heritage," he said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have spent the past few days in Cape Town - visiting various projects in the area.

Yesterday, they visited the country's oldest mosque and celebrated Heritage Day with locals in Bo Kaap.

This morning, the couple met Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and his daughter, and introduced them to their four-month old son, Archie.
