Price of petrol to drop, diesel up in May
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Some relief at the pumps for some motorists as the price of petrol is expected to go down.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Department says the cost of both grades of petrol will decrease by 12 cents a litre while diesel will increase by 92 and 98 cents a litre.
Illuminating Paraffin will increase by 79 cents.
The department says the average international product prices of petrol decreased, while diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased during the period under review.
"This is because there is still a shortage of diesel supply which is due to lower exports from Russia as a major exporter of distillate fuel, low inventories globally as well as higher demand for distillates.”
It says the rand also appreciated, on average, against the US dollar.
