President Jacob Zuma back home after presidential jet problem
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
President Jacob Zuma is back in the country after being stranded in Burundi.
Zuma had been in the east African country as part of a delegation of five Heads of State. They had been in Bujumbura for talks aimed at bringing stability there following violence over President Pierre Nkurunziza's third term in office.
The president was scheduled to return to South Africa on Friday but the presidential jet, Inkwazi, could not take off after a fuel leak was discovered.
Spokesperson in the Defence Ministry, Joy Nonzukiso-Peter, says a military aircraft was sent to fetch President Zuma from Burundi.
"We are not really sure what caused the fuel leak. However it is being looked into and it will be sorted out," she said.
