President to appeal Shaun Abrahams ruling
President Jacob Zuma has lodged an appeal against Friday's ruling in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria that invalidated the appointment of Shaun Abrahams as National Prosecution Authority (NPA) boss.
Judge Dunstan Mlambo said it would be unfair for the former prosecutions boss Mxolisi Nxasana to be reinstated and due to President Zuma's pending corruption case, he was conflicted in appointing a new NDPP.
Nxasana had accepted a "golden handshake worth R17.3-million and left the seat vacant in 2015.
Mlambo ruled that Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa should appoint a new NDPP in the next 60 days.

Freedom under Law (FUL) brought the case after Nxasana's resignation and FUL Chairperson, Johan Kriegler, says President Zuma is challenging the ruling that states he cannot exercise his presidential powers in the appointment of Abrahams' successor.
Krigler said the NDPP has also lodged an application to appeal, but on different grounds.
