Presidency: Election date to be announced soon
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
An election date should be announced in the next fortnight.

Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya briefed the media on the president’s public programme for the week on Wednesday.
This is as the country waits with bated breath to hear when will the 2024 general elections take place.
"So if you count from tomorrow, the president will announce the election date within 15 days. So that should put everyone's mind at ease that the election date will be announced."
This year’s election date will be announced after Ramaphosa has completed consultations with the Independent Electoral Commission.
Magwenya says a proclamation will be made soon afterwards.
"There shouldn't be a lag between the time he announces and the time he proclaims. It all depends on his schedule on that particular day on which he will announce, but often, we don't have a huge lag between the announcement and the proclamation.”
