Premier to visit slain former mayor family

KZN Premier, Sihle Zikalala, will today head to the home of Ndwedwe’s former mayor Maxwell Hadebe who was killed at his business premises.

50-year-old Hadebe who served as mayor between 2011 and 2016 was shot on Thursday night. It is understood that two suspects entered the Ndwedwe property and fired several shots.
Hadebe, who was shot in the head, died at the scene.
Spokesperson for the premier, Bongani Tembe confirms the visit.
"The Premier has sent his condolonces to the family of former mayor of Ndwedwe who was killed", he said.
"The Premier along with other members of the executive will visit the family to pay their last respects", Tembe said.
The provincial task team investigating political killings has taken up the case. There have been no arrests yet.
