Pregnant woman airlifted from M41 crash scene

A pregnant woman has been airlifted to hospital from the scene of Monday morning's horrific M41 pile-up in Umhlanga.

Emer-G-Med paramedics say the woman suffered serious injuries in the multi-vehicle crash.
While the circumstances surrounding the collision are not yet known, reports from the scene are that a truck ploughed into dozens of vehicles near the M4 on ramp on the eastbound side.
Earlier, medics said they were treating more than ten people with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Emer-G-Med's Kyle van Reenen says an aeromedical helicopter landed earlier to transport the pregnant woman to a medical facility.
"At this point the cause of the collision is unknown and will form the subject of the South African Police Service investigation."
