Prediction: Fuel price will remain unchanged
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
Any adjustments to the fuel price are due to be announced later today.
Consumers will be eager to find out whether they can put away a few extra Rands every time they fill-up at the pumps in the build up to December.
An economist is predicting the price of petrol to remain the same or increase by only a few cents, depending on the grade.
Francois Stofberg feels 93-octane petrol might remain unchanged, while 95-octane could increase by around 4-cents a litre.
He is predicting the price of diesel to jump by about 46-cents.
"Largely, the unchanged nature of some of the petrol at least is due to relative weakening in the rand.
"So, although the rand did depreciate quite a lot, we saw the international price of brent crude oil staying stable and for that reason the petrol prices on 93 unleaded staying more or less constant," he said.
