Prasa to act on Madonsela's report

Board chairperson of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, Popo Molefe says the parastatal is on track and management is capable of carrying out its duties.

Molefe briefed the media in Pretoria earlier on the outcomes of the Public Protector's report on alleged irregularities at the agency.

The report released last month found that 19 of the 32 complaints levelled against PRASA were substantiated.

Most of them involved mal-administration relating to tenders totalling R2.8-billion.

Molefe has told reporters there will be internal inquiries for all those named in the report.

''We will identify the individuals affected, assess the merit of this case regardless of who they are. In some instances it may well be questions of covering some monies of the company that would have been wilfully fruitlessly expanded,'' he said.
